I gave my first class in front of a whiteboard, aged 8. It was an impromptu lesson about the different parts of a sailing boat. A 10-minute lesson, with annotated diagrams and lengthy explanations, delivered to… sailing instructors!
I still sail in my free time and now give classes in Business English and Vocal Confidence.
After working as an actor for five years in London, I trained as a teacher to share my love of language with the younger generation. Whilst training, I was recruited by EngVid to make English tutorials for a global audience on YouTube. Since the first video, released in 2014, I’ve been lucky enough to film in the YouTube creator space and in Toronto, Canada. Many of the videos have been broadcast on American TV.
Ever since the videos were released, countless requests have come from professionals all over the world to help with their English.
People came to us for two reasons: they want to be able to use English better at work, and they want to become better communicators. And by that, I mean a speaker who is able to give a compelling presentation in English with less than 15 minutes’ preparation time.
These days, we only work directly with businesses. If you’re an individual, you’re still able to get great value from the regular content we share on LinkedIn and YouTube, but if you’re a business, with employees who need help with their English, we may be able to help.
We always start off with a free, no-obligation consultation. It’s a chance for me to find out a bit more about your business and you can tell me about the employees you feel need some support with their English and / or communication skills.
From there, I would then carry out free, informal assessments of up to 10 employees, looking at their spoken and written English, in relation to their roles. This allows me to compile a report with recommendations on the key steps each employee needs to take – a useful document, whether you choose to work with as your training provider, or not.
